November 2019 Newsletter

As the nights draw in, what better way to while away a winter evening than to come down to The Lloyds for a strum and a singalong. We will be meeting every Thursday in November from 7.30pm - 9.30pm. 

Looking ahead, we will have a Christmas break on 26th December and will start the New Year off on Thursday 2nd January 2020.

CHUG Team recently had a meeting and CHUG now has a group constitution which will be on the CHUG web page. It was decided to do this to become a full member of Making Music, to take advantage of any discounts they may offer on the public liability insurance cost.

CHUG Team has also acquired cards for World of Ukes Discount Club whereby anyone buying a ukulele from World of Ukes gets a £5 discount. World of Ukes organises various ukulele events and has an on-line store. Ask Sue for a discount card.

Gig News...… lots coming up.

Doodle Polls have been sent out for the following gigs. Its a great help if you can respond. If are able to come along to any gig,  please remember to come to The Lloyds  to run through the gig playlists in the weeks  beforehand.

Wednesday 13th November 

Venue: Burnage Library, 39 Burnage Lane, Manchester M19 1EW (near the High School and next to the Medical Centre).

Time: Playing at 11am for 30 minutes.

Car parking: The library has a small car park and there is unrestricted parking on Shawbrook Road.

Please arrive 15 - 20 minutes beforehand. We will be setting up in the Young Adult Area as Sylvia the storyteller is on before us.

A gig songbook is available from this website. It contains four children's songs and we will play through the songbook on 7th November. This is a wiggle and jiggle session for pre-school children so bring your wiggle or jiggle or both along. Dress as bright as you like. It will be a fun event.

Wednesday 27th November

Venue: Heathercare, St Mary Magdalene Church, 44 Moss Lane, Sale, Manchester M33 6GD.

Time: 1pm playing for 40 minutes. Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes before hand.

Car parking /Transport: Parking on site. Brooklands Metrolink is approx. a mile away. Bus numbers 18 and 245 from the Trafford Centre stop nearby but the bus route meanders.

We will be playing a selection from the CHUG Christmas Gig Songbook (available on this website) which we will go through a week or two beforehand. It could be time to dust off your Christmas jumpers... don't get too warm! There will be coffee and mince pies afterwards.

Sunday 1st December

Venue: The Lloyds

Time: A 30 minute slot anytime between 6pm and 7pm. 

We will confirm a definite timing when we have the info.

Saturday 14th December

Venue: Holy Family Catholic Church Hall, Old Hall Road, Sale Moor M33 2JA

Time: Arrive 2.30pm

We will be playing for SVP Society  (good neighbours / befriending  scheme) at their Christmas party.
