CHUG Spring News 2020

There has been a lot of things happening at CHUG so far this year.

Firstly a big thank you for replying to the various Doodle Polls we send out, we find them really helpful when planning gigs.

We have a new revised songbook and we have been going through the new songs over the last few weeks (many thanks for all your song suggestions).

If you at the Lloyds on 29th January you will already know that after two and a half year's on Chorlton Ukulele Team, Andrew has stepped down. We all thanked Andrew for his contribution to the CHUG. If it hadn't been for Andrew's idea that Chorlton needed a ukulele group then CHUG would not exist, and we would all be sat at home on a Thursday evening instead of having a strum and a sing along.

BIG NEWS
We will be holding or first CHUG event. A Rock and Roll Workshop.
 DATE: Monday 15th June 2020
TIME: 7.30pm
VENUE: South West Manchester Cricket Club, Ellesmere Road Chorlton M21 0SG.
We have got together with Matt from World of Ukes, who organise many ukulele events and we will be welcoming Andy Webster to do a Rock and Roll Workshop for us. Andy runs various ukulele groups around Carlisle as well as being a member of the band A League of Gentleman. This workshop has been held at ukulele festivals in Finland, Cech Republic and the Grand Northern Ukulele Festival and now for one night only.... Chorlton.
It is for all levels of players.
It will be a great evening. The workshop will last an hour and then Andy will lead a singalong. The songbook for this will be emailed to us nearer the time and we will then pass it on for you to download or print.
The venue has a car park and is a short walk from Chorlton Metrolink stop. They have a bar (cask marque ale certificate).
The cost is £5 payable to Sue on a Thursday night in advance of the workshop. Payment will only be taken during a CHUG night at the Lloyds and if all payments could be in by 9th April that would be very helpful.
The workshop is being funded from club funds and the £5 payments are paying for the venue.

GIG NEWS
 DATE: Wednesday 29th April 2020
TIME: 11am - please arrive 20 mins before hand to get ready.
VENUE: Burnage Library, Burnage Lane, Manchester M19 1EW.
We have been asked to return to the library for another Wiggle and Jiggle Session. This is for pre-school toddlers and their parents. We will be playing for about 30 minutes, children's and jolly songs. Last time this was a really fun gig, so if you wish to come along just vote on the Doodle Poll. We look forward to seeing you at the Lloyds on a Thursday evening 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The next news letter will be a summer edition in June.
Chorlton Ukulele Team.
